When Ash first arrived at the Ranch, he was underweight and scarred from being picked on at his previous home. After months of training and confidence building, he began to thrive, eventually becoming one of the most playful and energetic horses in the herd.
In the winter of 2011, an unfortunate accident left Ash blind after he severely scratched the cornea of his left eye. Then, in the winter of 2020, he was diagnosed with skin cancer on that same eyelid, making it necessary to have the entire eye removed. Despite these challenges, he has adapted beautifully and can do anything the other horses can do.
Ash truly lives up to his name. He serves as a powerful reminder that beauty can come from ashes when we trust in the Lord. "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me...to give them beauty for ashes..." Isaiah 61:1-3

Paint - The American Paint Horse is a breed identified by its distinct patterned coat and specific bloodlines. While their ancestors originally came from Spain, the two main foundational bloodlines for the modern breed are the Quarter Horse and the Thoroughbred. To be registered, a Paint Horse must exhibit the specific conformation traits of a Western stock horse and possess pinto coloring.
