Alex was born in Colorado, where he roamed the plains for the first two years of his life. He was later purchased and trained as a hunter/jumper. When his owner’s life changed direction, Alex was donated to the Ranch. God clearly had much bigger plans for him, as he is now used to glorify the Lord. With his natural leadership skills and curious nature, he easily lives up to his full name, Alexander the Great.

Holsteiner - This breed originated in the Schleswig-Holstein region of northern Germany and is considered one of the oldest warmblood breeds. They were originally bred for farming and military purposes. Following World War II, the breed transitioned into a premier sport horse, widely used for show jumping, eventing, and dressage.
Quarter Horse - This is the oldest recognized horse breed in the US. Their lineage traces back to a blending of Spanish and Native American horses. These horses excelled at sprinting short distances of no more than a quarter-mile. In Texas, a modern type of Quarter Horse was developed from the foundation stallion, Old Sorrel.
Turkoman - This breed originated in Central Asia, in what is modern-day Turkmenistan and northeastern Iran. It is a foundation breed for the Thoroughbred and heavily influenced the Arabian horse. They are known for their metallic coat, speed, and endurance.
