During the Christmas season of 2012, the ranch was contacted by a lady in our community who rescues horses.  She said she had a gaited mare for us to consider.  We were not really interested in getting another horse but went to visit the prospective offer and thank this lady for the good she is doing.  In passing, she mentioned that the mare was rescued with a foal.  While we were visiting, we asked, out of curiosity, if we could see her baby… because who doesn’t love babies?!  Needless to say, it was love at first sight. When Shadow was led into the barn there was something in his demeanor that made hope stir in our hearts… “Could we take him?”  It has been Mrs. Corica’s dream to start a colt, so Mrs. Brooks knew this was a gift from God.  In God’s perfect timing, this special gift came at Christmas.  Shadow is a gorgeous, crystal-eyed cremello colt, and his papers say he is a Pinto.  But mostly he is a reminder that God is ALWAYS in control, things ALWAYS happen in His timing, and we are all under the shadow of the Almighty. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1. We decided to keep his name (Under the Shadow of the Almighty) in honor of his rescuer who has a huge heart for God.  We pray that when you meet Shadow, you will find peace, take time to breathe deeply, look around, and be thankful that you are loved by the Most High.
