Day Camp Staffing Needs

Do you love KIDS? Do you have a heart for KIDS’ ministry? Are you a life guard who loves KIDS, looking to pick up some extra hours this summer? Or a musician who loves worshiping with KIDS? Do you want to have an extra special summer spending time with some extra special KIDS at Strong Tower Ranch? Are you age 15+? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then please read on! 2019 DAY CAMP DATES:  June 10-14     June 24-28     July 8-12     July 22-26

New Training time in 2019 – Required Training for Group Leaders (Sheriffs & Deputies), Wranglers is held the Saturday before each camp week, from Noon till 6 pm. Dinner is provided. Sheriffs and Deputies need to attend for each week you serve. All other new volunteers are welcome.

Training Dates:  June 8        June 22         July 6          July 20

Volunteer fee of $20 – one fee for the summer;  extra shirts $10 each (lunch and snacks provided)

Volunteer times on duty for camp:

Full time volunteers – 8am-4:45pm, M-Th, 8am-6pm Fri (volunteer Picnic from 6-9)

Part time volunteers – time & days depends on the position

Opportunities to Serve before each week of camp:

Transportation Coordinator – Using camper locations and online mapping,  contact families & organize routes to get campers to camp and back home

Food purchasing and menu preparation with Food Service Manager.

Property beautification and preparation.

Opportunities to Serve during a week of camp:

Nurse (can split days with another nurse; full time 8-4) As of 4/11/19, we have a nurse for June 10 and July 8 weeks. We have a nurse mentor available to train you in STR procedures.

Lifeguard (must be certified; part time; paid, 11:15-3:30, 3 swim sessions with break for lunch; if need to be recertified, and classes are available, STR will cover cost) – Filled for 2019; volunteer guards welcome to serve with groups as assistants

Waterfront coordinator – prepare boats, paddles, life vests before each week of camp and during each day of camp, assisting with water use activities and swim/boating times, instructing campers in the proper use of PFD’s and boats

Kitchen assistants (part time 9-3, split days with others; need 5, 2-3 just to help serve lunches 11:00-1:30)

Transportation before & after camp (part time; 2 teams of 2 drivers each take STR van to bring campers to camp in morning and take home in afternoon, 7-9am & 3:30-5:30pm)

Transportation during camp – for groups to go to their activities (drive van with wagon)

Tractor driver for camper hay ride during that activity (see updated schedule) and camper transport to arena/volunteer transport to lakeside on Friday 3:40-5:30.

Activity Leaders (part time; zip line, obstacle course, games, fishing, hike, crafts, archery, bb guns)

Group Leaders/Sheriffs (full time; 10 leaders)  – some positions are filled

Group Assistants/Deputies (full time; 20 assistants) – some positions are filled

Group Mentors – Full time. Parent or Grandparent who goes with a group everywhere and assists leaders (Sheriffs & Deputies) in their roles, being available for spiritual and practical guidance, helping in whatever capacity to achieve the goal.

Bible Teachers (part time; need 2 each day for 2 sessions each; lessons provided) – some positions are filled

Creation Teachers (part time; 2 each day for 2-3 sessions each; lessons provided) – some positions are filled

After camp clean up (part time 4-5 pm M-Th, 6-7:30 pm Fri, 4 people)

Friday Picnic set up, serve, clean up (part time 4:30-8 pm Fri, 4 people)

Hydration coordinator (part time; fill & deliver water coolers on site in am before camp and clean and put away after camp/prep for next day with ice; if available all day, refill coolers as needed during the day)
