Training
STR carefully screens its volunteers, especially those who are in contact with children. After careful screening, day camp workers are required to attend a three hour training prior to the week of camp for which they are scheduled to serve. This training is held at the camp site and is an orientation regarding our daily schedules, how we handle various situations and how to counsel a child for salvation. For 2010, we are offering an additional, optional training described below which will be of benefit to those serving in all of the STR programs, not just day camp.
STR has become an approved organization by the Children's Division of Missouri’s Social Services. Children in the foster system or children who are in danger of becoming wards of the state will be referred to the ranch by case workers for services. STR is strengthening its training for staff and counselors. A three hour, Christian training regarding troubled children will be offered starting at 9:00 a.m. on March 13. The location will be the fellowship hall of Chapel of the Lake (11000 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lake St. Louis). Those who plan to help at the ranch this year are welcome to attend, but an RSVP is required to .
