Strong Tower Ranch: a 2010 Western Adventure

Campers will be in their own rodeo competition all week! We will continue our strong emphasis on giving our lives to Christ, and on the evidence for creation. Strong programming for the age 12-14 group will emphasize the Truth vs. common lies of the world system.

a Western Adventure

Day Camp

Our goal is to provide a quality, Christ centered camping experience with activities that are both entertaining and character building.

Activities include swimming, horseback riding, creation lessons, outdoor living skills, games, singing, Bible lessons, missions, crafts, archery, and boating. Every year has a new theme and one or more activities that are different from the year before. A nurse is always present and staff is trained in child protection policies.

Day Camp is for ages 7-14. Campers will be in groups of children close to their own age. Every camper will be able to take one horseback ride with the difficulty of the ride being appropriate for their age and/or ability. Additional horseback riding lessons are available for an extra fee. (see registration form).

Our desire is that no child should miss Christian camp because of not being able to afford it. So we keep the cost as low as possible (only $60 for a week) and staff the camp with volunteers. Sponsorships are available for those who cannot afford part or all of the cost (indicate need on the registration form in the space provided). Many children who would not have otherwise been able to experience our camp have done so through the generosity of sponsors. Please sponsor a child with a tax-deductible donation. After the summer is over, we will send you a "thank you" letter from one of the sponsored campers (they won't have your name). For more information on how to sponsor a needy child, please see sponsor a child page. Some people who can afford to pay for camp are hesitant to register their children because they don’t want to take a space that a sponsored child might fill. We cannot afford to fill camp entirely with sponsored children so please do not hesitate to register your child if you can afford to pay. God always sends us the right balance of paid and sponsored children.

It can be difficult for public school children to go to camp due to summer school requirements so we are making a special effort to schedule camp weeks when at least two of the closest area school districts are out of school.

2010 Summer’s Day Camp Weeks are as follows:

Week One: June 7-11 CLOSED, except for 12-14 year olds

Week Two: July 5-9 Registration deadline is June 28. As of June 17, there are 30 remaining openings.

Week Three: July 19-23 Openings avaliable

Week Four: Aug 2-6 Openings avaliable

If you would like to work at camp, please fill out a volunteer form. The children of volunteers can attend free. Mail form to Strong Tower Ranch, Attn. Day Camp. If you are willing to use email, click on the "volunteer application (electronic submittal)", save it to your computer, open and fill in, save and email to .

2009 Summer Report

We had attendance of 286 children in day camps this summer with at least 34 salvation decisions. Half of the children who came to camp were able to come without paying, thanks to STR friends. We had the opportunity to share the message of the gospel and the evidence for creation with many children who had never heard these important truths. It was an amazing summer with changed lives of children and with some adults who were affected in one way or another. Many new people helped to staff the camps which encouraged us and them too. Over a hundred children were provided with transportation to camp (otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to come) and we had great bus drivers who went the extra mile to show them they cared.

Amazon Expedition

The 2009 theme was “Amazon Expedition.” We used materials from a VBS program by Answers in Genesis and adapted it to the outdoors. Campers (and workers) had great fun “exploring the Amazon River” while learning important apologetics which demonstrated the reliability of God’s Word. Eight years ago we observed that children’s faith is undermined from early ages because in school they are taught the theory of evolution as if it were fact. Since then, STR has always had daily creation segments in which we teach campers how the laws of science agree with creation rather than evolution. This year we built on that tradition by revolving the entire theme around creation.
